Take time to decide as to what to keep and which to discard. Most of the hands, apart from the obvious winning hand, offer two or more different options retried and could be the winners of gambling.
Another trick to finding the best strategy is to resolve the deficiencies, ie the number of cards that are discarded or kept in order to achieve optimal hand.
An example of this strategy is that if you get a hand with: eight of spades, jack of spades, queen of spades, three diamonds and five of hearts, only two cards are far from achieving “color” as it has several letters that are swords, but if you only have a jack and queen could get a royal flush, which would get rid of three letters, namely that the difference would be three.
